Priest Family Farm
The Priest Family Farm operates on 66 acres located near Carthage, NC. The farm was established in 1985 and has been a family tradition for over five generations. After the changing tobacco market began altering North Carolina landscapes, the Priest family began to adapt and experiment with fresh produce. Their first experimental pilot of one-half acres asparagus in 2008 was wildly successful, and since then they have increased to around 6 acres of asparagus. Though they continue to grow tobacco, they have continued to transition and grow a larger variety of other seasonal vegetables. The Priest Family Farm is now busy with many varieties of greens and root crops such as asparagus, sugar snap peas, English garden peas, potatoes, carrots, radishes, onions, garlic, beets, turnips, arugula, kale, cabbage, Asian greens, collards, turnip greens, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, winter squash, and southern collards. They passed the GAP inspection with a perfect score of 100 in 2020!
The Priest Family Farm is not open to the public, but they sell their produce to the public at the Sandhill Farmers Market in Pinehurst, NC where they sell seasonal fresh produce and cut flowers from mid-April to September on Wednesdays 3-6pm and Saturdays 10-1pm.
They sell some of their produce to the box programs that Sandhill AgInnovation Center organizes. They are also members of two local farmer co-ops. Their produce can be purchased through Sandhills Farm 2 Table (info@sandhillsfarm2table.com) and the Sandhills Farmers Cooperative (sandhillsfarmerscooperative@gmail.com).
