Get To Know Your Farmer
At SAIC, we have many important partnerships with local farmers that allow for fresh and local produce to be circulated to those in the community who receive our food boxes. Here, we highlight several of these farmers and provide some more information on their farm, what they sell, and where to buy from them.
Mg3 Farms
Roderick McMillan turned to farming in 2016 and started MG3 Farms, a 10,000 sq ft greenhouse that produces many different varieties of leafy greens such as lettuce, cilantro, basil, parsley, swiss chard, kale, collards, cabbages, and mustard greens.
Robeson County
Lyons and Wade Family Farm
Pat and Marshall grow produce along with homemade products such as eggs, honey, soap, jams, jellies, and canned goods.
Hoke County
The Berry Patch
Lee Berry started The Berry Patch with his wife Amy in 1995. It began as a small strawberry farm and has now grown into a 450 acre farm that produces a large variety of fruits and vegetables that are sold at their produce market.
Richmond County
New Ground Farms
New Ground Farms is owned and operated by Connie and Millard Locklear in Pembroke, North Carolina.
Robeson County
Priest Family Farm
The Priest Family Farm operates on 66 acres located near Carthage, North Carolina. The farm was established in 1985 and has been a family tradition for over five generations. They grow tobacco and a large variety of seasonal vegetables.
